Summer summary and upcoming stuff

Mon Oct 12, 2009, 8:51 AM
So we're well into autumn now.

I have to admit I DREAD the upcoming Canadian winter. There's no way I'll ever drive my car over salt, ever again. Not this freshly restored classic, at least. Fortunately, bus and subway connections from our new address are frequent and highly convenient, so it's not that bad :)

Anyway, I'm writing my report on all the cons we've attended this summer, so stay tuned for an update to this journal and a bucketload of pictures :)

:iconnalafontaine: has made it into the 5 finalists among hundreds of entries in Alvin Lee's coloring contest. I highly encourage everyone to check out the top submissions and perhaps cast a vote: [link]

We're getting ready for a performance at the upcoming Star Wars in Concert show at the Bell Center in Montreal. We have to make sure our 501st Legion costumes look their best for this world-scale, official Lucasfilm event :) I'm very excited about being a part of it! :)

your friend with the guy who did the droid from star wars right ... i remember something about sharing accounts ... any way my sisters doing a cosplay and would like some help with it
she going as raging raven from mgs4 and wants to go all out with it ... im sure she pay for services from him for the armour work any way if your ever free i can get the information back to her
here a picture of the charter [link]

or her email lilakb@ hotmail.com

Okaaay... that's a very difficult costume to pull off. I have no idea how to do the feet or the wings. I could help with body armor panels, though. That stormtrooper armor I wore at Fan Expo was all self-made out of fiberglass, and I would recommend the same technique for this.

I'm sure the R2 could help with other mechanical details (or the missiles)

For the feet and the wings, we would need some really clever ideas, though.

Most importantly... I don't think anyone would be able to wear it with those feet. your feet inside those extensions would be pointing downwards, and the legs would have to be permanently bent in the knees. And that's while carrying the weight of the armor and especially the wings. I would say this is humanely impossible.

A modified versiuon without those crazy feet, perhaps...

the feet we were plaining to do with stilts similar these one here

or pretty much something along this line (try to make our own if at all possible)
and have the amour piece over it

as for the wings ... we haven't got a plan ... yet
maybe a tacnque like this one [link] more sif so the wings wont shift positions unless we make them ...

.. just some ideas ... perhaps also using a lighter martial for the heavier parts

...
any way i really appreciate that your conistering this i dont really know who else to turn to on a costume like this one ... i tell my sister that your countering it ...
not actually but ruffly how much would this cost us...

any way i look ford to getting your help on this its greatly appreciated <3
:iconnezacosplay:
regardles of that i would be extremly thankfull to get your help on this even if its not for the hole costume or if the costume hast to be adjusted... but this is not my dessision. I will wait for my siter's say so and message you again with a date to start. I realise this is not a smal task and it will not be easy nore will it be cheap in any way, i know the prices for custom stuff for others and im fine with it ... in the end though this is for my siter and not for my self so this will be completly up to her.
:iconjonboy2312:
Well, I could help with the individual armor panels and the helmet, but I'd leave the wings to someone else, LOL.

Fiberglassing is a tedious (and messy!) process, though... it's the material boat hulls are made of. Some camper trailers, too. it's the 'carbon fiber' of the eighties :)

If I was to do this, I guess I would just charge you the materials and then... uh... I dunno... at least a couple hundred, I guess... It's hard work, you know :)

It was nice seeing you guys today, the new suit looks great. The term i was looking to say about it is that it looks like it got cleaned quickly a few dozen times and all the dirt left was in the corners and nooks.

I'm probably heading back tomorrow, but will not spend as long.
:iconjonboy2312:
Thanks! I had a few 'teething' problems with the strapping system but I know exactly what to change.

hey, are you gonna attent ToyCon? or Concept? We'll go to Toycon for sure, but i think we'll skip Concept. A matter of price vs. content, mostly.
:iconmokmo82:
I hadn't heard of ToyCon, looks nice. I won't attend concept, mostly because it's out of my budget and i'm not that much into sci-fi litterature (Star Wars and Star Trek, that's all). I'm looking at the dealers at toycon, i might look for something specific or not but this will be a nice way to spend an afternoon :)
