Imperial stormtrooper by Jonboy2312 Imperial stormtrooper by Jonboy2312
A little work in progress - my stormtrooper armor that I've been working on the past 6 months or so. It's made from scratch using fiberglass laminate, closely copied from an original lent to me for reference. The helmet turned out to be a very close match to the screen used originals, closely replicating their little quirks and imperfections.

The costume premiered on the Dagobah 2007 convention in Gorzow Wielkopolski.

And before you ask... YES, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY MANGA. And if anyone from Kasen Comics is reading this... please contact me at last - I've been trying to reach you guys for a long time now.

Ah. A storm trooper who's stains and scratches represent having his mettle (or plastic?) tested. But I have to ask though....what kind of rifle is that? Not like the name, just what's it's function? Is it sniper, semi, or full auto?
And I always wondered what was in the ruck sacks of stormtroopers like these. It always seems like back packs always accompany these kinds of storm troopers. Are they the ones with the squad automatic weapons in the group? Is that a crap ton of ammo to be belt fed into that rifle, and are those things near the end legs to make a stand for said weapon?

The're a bunch of stuff on these backpacks. Supposedly additional life support gear, more efficient than what's built-in with the armor itself, to be used on worlds with more hostile environments. I'd imagine there would be AC, a heat source and a water supply at the very least. There's also a better radio than the one inside the helmet. Other than that, I really don't know in detail, Lucasfilm always tended to BS some explanations every time they release a visual guide and such, but not always consistent...

no to mam dobre wieści, bo jest kilka marek w dużym rozmiarze :)

It's pretty rough from up close... but that's how the originals were, LOL! Paul Blake, the original Greedo, said this was exactly how he remembers the original sandtroopers... yellowing paint and so on :)

Still... it's pretty rough... Although I think I pretty much nailed the ANH torso, the arms are really bad, and the legs came from TK-560's custom set. Better than FX, but not really movie accurate.

I'm assembling a new armor now, a brand spanking new AP set :)

HEy, the roughness is just weathering...or something like that

Nothing will be 'movie' accurate, but getting it as close as possible is good enough.

I wish I could get a set of AP...but, unfortunatly...last time I went to an armor party....nearly everyone there...including the armor said AP would never fit my particular body...tried a set on....and they were right

Any armor can be trimmed or shimmed and made to fit. My thigh pieces are extended in the back (TK-560 was very skinny, LOL).

Why wouldn't it fit, exactly?

Let's just say that there wasn't enough in the bending/curvature in the limb portions, so if they were my size...they wouldn't wrap around my legs enough

You'd be surprised how many people have that problem. I dare say MOST troopers out there...

You just need shims. look at the back of my thigh pieces: [link] - they're shimmed, there are portions of extra material glued and riveted in between the original edges.

That was built, too. It's a lifesize MG-34, that's what they used as props in the movie, among other things (such as Sterling SMGs and Lewis machineguns)

Very nice work. I'm still trying to convince my parents to let me clear out a section of the shed to set up some space to work with fiberglass. But my mum seems to be scared of the idea.

And, you know, doesn't want me walking around dressed as a Storm Trooper.
BUT NUTS TO HER.

If this is a work in progress, then wow.

Amazing job with that super-long rifle... It confuzzles me as to its purpose, since it can't possibly be a sniper rifle... Maybe a long-range carbine?

I can't wait to see your finished product. I think the one thing that seems to not be 100% refined with this costume is the backpack is too clean to be carried around for a long period of time, in comparison to the rest of the uniform (unless it's supposed to be a new backpack ;P).

Thanks ^^ The costume has progressed since then, here's how it looked on the 16th: [link]

- a pauldron was added, the helmet detail was reworked a little bit to match ROTJ / SE standards better (I'm trying to replicate a sandtrooper from the new footage added to the Special Edition of Episode 4). I'm still waiting for a new, better set of legs, which will arrive bundled with a new belt, drop boxes, and the minibelt normally mounted over the right knee.

I just can't wait to finish it :)
